I hope all of you have had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Lately, I've been cooking and gathering with loved ones. I know many of you have too. Now, we're thinking about Christmas.

Before we get to some of the great deals I've found, I just want to let you know that in the past few weeks, I've updated our website with lots pages about planting bulbs to help you along if you need it.

In the process I even discovered where bearded iris got it's name. It actually has little fuzzy "beard-like" hairs at the top of its petals. Check it out next time you see one.

Be sure and visit me at JuliasGardenBlog.com for the latest updates to our site (you will notice updates to our site on the right hand side).

Look for some interesting news in December about our blog and newsletter!

Hope you enjoy this issue! :)

Article: Gardening Web Deals for Black Friday

Today is Black Friday and many stores are having great deals on everything.

I noticed that Amazon is having a sale today, that will probably last through the week-end, and you can get great deals on all kinds of gardening gadgets.

One of our favorite gardening tools is the Felco Ergonomic Pruners #F-8. These pruners are the number one tool we use outside all year long. The ergonomic design helps minimize stress in hands and wrist while pruning. These are 25% off right now at Amazon.com

Another must have is the Mantis tiller. It's small size makes it a perfect tool to till up small areas when the soil needs reworking in the spring. Once you try one of these, you won't believe you ever got along without one.

    Garden Calender
    • Finish planting tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, crocuses and any other spring-flowering bulbs.
    • During dry spells, don't let newly planted bulbs dry out.
    • Consider building a hobby greenhouse or a "hoop house"
    • Have fun with your kids and grandkids and grow a sweet potato vine inside
    • Grow Lenten roses, also known as hellebores in spots that you walk by daily in the winter. These deer resistant plants bloom December through March (Lent). Our son grows these in our backyard so give us a call if you need some.
    • Visit the rose societies website at www.ars.org for ideas on roses to add for next year.
