Stewart's Gardening News, Issue #001 -- Welcome July 22, 2008 |
| Hi www.flowers-plants-gardening-advice.com Welcome To Our First NewsletterWe are very excited about starting our first newsletter. As promised, we will be highlighting some of the new additions to our web site each month so that you will be kept up-to-date on all of the garden happenings, not only in our garden, but also in those gardens that we have traveled to recently. Also, I'll let you know about online resources that may be having sales or offering some brand new plants that you may want to try out in your garden. Here are some of our newest additions to Mid-South-Gardening-Advice.com.....
1. New Coneflower Varieties We have been experimenting with the new varieties of coneflowers called the "Big Sky" series that ItSauls introduced recently. Also known as echinacea, these coneflowers come in an amazing array of new colors besides the standard purple coneflower that you may be used to. Names like 'Rassmatazz' and 'Sparkler' are hard to resist. We love the variety called 'Moonbeam' which is a creamy white color. It has done very well in our gardens. All coneflowers love full sun and well drained soil, are drought tolerant and deer-resistant.

Since many of you may not have visited our garden, please relax a minute and come to our garden page to see a virtual tour of our garden and learn what we're all about.
Now that summer is in full swing, you may be wondering what on earth to do with all those flowers. I have been growing and drying herbs, perennials and annuals for over 20 years, and would love to share with you how easy and fun it is.

This month is chock full of special deals. Many of our online resources, like Smith and Hawkins are having their end of the summer specials. You know them for their quality products and customer satisfaction guarantee. Right now they have a great looking hammock reduced from $349 to $199.99. Also, cushions, dinning tables, and rugs are substantially marked down. If you know your going to need something like this for next season, you may want to check it out at the following link.

We are getting into our hot dry spell here. With that in mind, in our next newsletter, I'll have a special section on how to water your garden so that it does the most good with the least amount of water. Also, I'll feature a special section on Cheeckwood Botanical Gardens with a slide show of my favorite gardens. Until next time, Stay cool! Julia and Alfred
