About Us - Alfred and Julia Stewart
ALFRED'S EXPERIENCE My husband, Alfred, has over 25 years experience with the "been there, done that" practical knowledge of how to garden in the Mid-South. Alfred's horticulture degree has enabled him to establish one of the largest landscape contracting companies in the Nashville, Tn area. Alfred is the dig-in-the-dirt, get-your-hands-dirty one in the family. You can bet that he is in the garden if there is daylight left outside.
His love for nature began as a child growing up on the Cumberland Plateau in the summers. He and his family would spend hours hiking, swimming, and enjoying the outdoors. Working summers for a landscaping company during his high school years, he realized that he wanted to make horticulture his life.
JULIA'S EXPERIENCEI, Julia, am a Master Gardener as well as a professional floral designer and garden crafter.
My joy is to putter in the garden, cutting plants and flowers for harvest in order to make wreaths and arrangements for the enjoyment of our friends, family, and for profit. Here you can see me in my workshop working on a Christmas tree made out of dried flowers. I have always dreamed of sharing nature with others in some way. As a child, I always loved crafting and would spend hours making something out of nothing, drawing, or coloring paint by number kits. Today, I am able to do all that in a grander way by drying the flowers that my husband and I grow and by using them as my art form. I must admit that Alfred does most of the "dirty work". I'm happier just going out and picking flowers to use in my arrangements and crafting. A few years ago, I was able to take a master gardeners class in order to understand the more practical aspects of gardening. This way, I am able to help Alfred out a little more in our ever expanding garden. Also, in 2008, I became a certified floral designer. After years of being self taught by reading every book I could find on the subject, I finally took the plunge and enrolled in an online course at Penn Foster University. Someday, we hope to have a barn here where I can teach floral design and herbal crafting classes. Wonder how I used our passion for gardening and crafting to build a profitable web site? Maybe you have a passion or a hobby that you would love to share with others. Or, maybe you are retired, or you are a stay-at-home-mom looking for some extra cash. Even if you have a local store or web site and need more traffic. Whatever your circumstance, just

Our Two Boys I have been blessed to be able to be a stay-at-home-mom, helping my husband to instill the joy of nature in our two boys, for the past 23 years.
These two boys are a great help in the garden. Especially when it comes time to mulch the beds in the spring. Thanks guys!
Our youngest son, Alfred, has even decided follow in his dad's footsteps and pursue a career in horticulture.
At age 16, while being home schooled, his dad helped him start his own business in our backyard propagating and growing Hellebores.Presently, he is studying horticulture at a nearby university. We are very excited to have another plant enthusiast in the family!
ChesterI must mention our biggest and most faithful companion in our garden, our dog Chester.
Not only does he help keep the deer away at night, he has also learned how to hunt rabbits. As much as I love the little furry rabbits, I'm glad that he is helping to eradicate them from our yard. Many of them have been taken to a nearby wooded park where they will be protected and have plenty of food. Pets can be a great way to help with pest control in your yard. We have learned a lot about gardening with pets by having dogs throughout our gardening years. As you can see, gardening is certainly a family affair!
