Arms and Legs

Mr. Potato Head With Arms and Legs
My granddaughter and I were planting potatoes when she asked why did they have arms and legs.
I explained to her they were seed potatoes and not really arms and legs and how they were going to grow.
A few days later we were having baked potatoes for dinner. At the table she asked where the arms and legs were?
We tried to explain the difference between the potatoes we planted and the baked potatoes. She politely told us she did not want this potato and she would wait for the potatoes that have the arms and the legs.
I am almost afraid to see what her reaction is when we dig the potatoes up and they have no arms and legs!

Thanks so much for that cute story Susan! Kids really do say the darnedest things don't they?
I wish I had written down more of the things my kids said while we were out in the garden.
I'm so glad you are passing on the love of gardening and growing your own food to your grandchild. What great memories you are creating....what a go grandma!
I have found some great books on gardening with kids over the years. One of my favorite ones is Down & Dirty: 43 Fun & Funky First-time Projects & Activities to Get You Gardening
This book has everything from growing strawberries to making ice cream. Even how to plant in grow bags. Lots of fun ideas for kids.
Thanks again for your submission... have a great day in the garden!
