Bringing Life to a Dead Tree

by Joanne Miller
(Franklin, TN, USA)

Gathering Wisdom

Gathering Wisdom

A couple years ago we had a dead tree in our yard but didn't want to just cut it down and have to deal with an ugly tree stump. We cut the tree down to about a 10 foot stump and then got creative. We researched and found a wood carver to come out and carve two faces on each side of the dead tree when our grandchildren were here to watch and join in the fun. It was so great to watch their little faces light up as they watched new life being brought into what could have been an unsightly loss. We have since created a planting area around the tree and in the spring many bulbs show their brilliance while the "wisdom" faces brighten our yard!

So Cool

Thanks so much Joanne. I love that tree. I think about it every time we cut down a tree in our yard. I would love to have something similar in our garden. I may just have to be content with those stick on faces you can buy.

It's hard to believe that someone could actually carve that. God has truly blessed this artist with an awesome talent!
