Cheekwood Botanical Gardens and Museum

cheekwood-botanical-gardens-and-museum-annuals.jpg

Cheekwood Botanical Gardens and Museum was open to the public in 1960. The Cheek mansion up on the hill is a beautiful backdrop to many beautiful gardens nestled among the hills of Nashville, Tn.

If you are planning a trip to Nashville, please be sure and drop by.

Open Tuesday - Saturday, 9:30 a.m.-4:30p.m. and Sunday, 11:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. except for Memorial Day and Labor Day. Closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day and the second Saturday in June.

Located about 20 minutes from downtown Nashville, it's an easy drive and as a bonus you will be able to drive through the beautiful Belle Meade area, with it's many beautiful mansions, along the way.

Parking is easy and the gardens are wheelchair accessible.

If you enjoy visiting gardens while you travel, you certainly will want to get this book I just found, you have probably seen it too. Entitled 1001 Gardens You Must See Before You Die is over 900 pages and chock full of beautiful gardens from all over the world. Pictures that will inspire you even if you can't visit them all yourself. Fascinating reading!.

cheekwood-botanical-garden.jpg I recently went to Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum and took some pictures that I hope you will enjoy.

This video presentation is of the Turner Seasons Garden. This garden features a series of garden rooms with plant collections specific for that particular season. This is a great place to see lots of great color combinations of flowers, flowering shrubs, and trees.

Sit back and relax and enjoy the video!

This next set of pictures of the Wills Perennial Garden is probably my favorite garden. I think it's because it is located up on a hill overlooking the gorgeous hills that surround the mansion and the ponds of the Robinson Family Water Garden. I also love the steep limestone rock wall that serves as a backdrop to this full sun perennial garden.

The day I was there, there was a storm on its way so it was very windy. You will see that many of the grasses where blowing in the breeze. Delightful!

Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum is a beautiful botanical garden to visit.

Plan on spending the day and eat at the Pineapple Room Restaurant or picnic on the grounds. Tables are provided.

They also have a nice gift shop above the restaurant.

Cheekwood also has a lot of classes that you may want to take, as well as chidrens programs.
