North Carolina Arboretum
At the North Carolina Arboretum, we recently had a perfect day to visit and take pictures. We were even allowed free admittance with our membership card from Horticulture Association of America card. The Southern Appalachian Mountains surrounding the arboretum make for a beautiful setting. Make it a point to stop in and view the gardens, demonstrations, the gift shop, and much more next time you're near Asheville, North Carolina. It's also right down the interstate from The Cove at Black Mountain. There are wooded trails throughout the property and pets are allowed on these trail if they are on a leash. Be sure and pick up a map describing the programs, tours, and the many gardens areas available to visitors. We loved seeing the Bonsai Exhibition Garden, Collection and Garden, Heritage Garden, Holly Garden, Quilt Garden, and the Stream Garden. Other cultivated areas you may visit at the arboretum include a Perennial Border at the Greenhouse, Plant Professional Landscape Garden, National Native Azalea Collection, and the Sustainable Landscape Demonstration garden.
