How to Grow Rosemary
Rosemary, Rosmarinus officianalis, is one of the best-loved tender perennial herbs that you can grow. Known for it's needlelike evergreen floiage that can be used in cooking and crafting. It also attracks birds and bees. Uses: Flavor meats, vegetables, and soups. Also in potpourris and sachets. Size: Grows 4-6' tall be 2-4' wide. Placement: Good in borders, rock gardens, and containers. Soil: Plant in loose, well drained soil; dislikes heavy clay. pH 6.0-6.7. Best climate: Zone 7-10 where temperatures stay above 10F. Pest and disease: Scale pests indoor. Wipe with cloth soaked with rubbing alcohol. Harvesting and storing: Collect the leaves and flowers in spring and early summer. Snip fresh foliage for culinary use after the dew has evaporated from the plant in the morning.
